Transition Messages from Doug Kerner and Victoria Hamilton
Please join us in welcoming Victoria Hamilton as the new Chair of the Forever Balboa Park Board of Trustees. Victoria’s journey with us spans over seven years of dedicated service, and she brings an impressive 45-year background in government, grantmaking, strategic planning, and nonprofit management within the arts and culture sector. Her extensive experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Conrad Prebys Foundation, Founding Director of the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, and Past President at California Arts Advocates and California for the Arts.
“When I took the helm as Director of the City’s Commission for Arts and Culture years ago, I became deeply involved and interested in all things Balboa Park. As Chair, I am excited to see our Botanical Building and Gardens campaign successfully complete, and to see people and nature continue to thrive together in our beloved park.” – Victoria Hamilton
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Doug Kerner, our outgoing Board Chair, for his exceptional service and dedication to Balboa Park. Doug’s nearly eight years on the Board have been marked by significant achievements, including securing a Special Use Permit with the City of San Diego and contributing to the Botanical Building and Gardens revitalization. His expertise as a partner at Higgs, Fletcher & Mack, specializing in real estate finance, land use, and development, has been invaluable.
“It has been an honor to help improve our exceptional park for the community and to advocate on behalf of this vital resource. Sustaining Balboa Park is a collaborative effort that can only be accomplished through collaboration if we want future generations to have a flourishing park to enjoy.” – Doug Kerner
