We’re excited to announce that Forever Balboa Park has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Cox Communications to support the expansion of our Volunteer Program. This funding will help us recruit, train, and onboard 100 new volunteers, who will be vital in maintaining Balboa Park’s extensive urban forest and public gardens.
As we prepare for major park enhancements like the reopening of the restored Botanical Building and the launch of the San Diego Natural History Museum’s biodiversity gardens, this grant allows us to increase our volunteer capacity. Our Tree Stewards and Garden Stewards programs are essential to keeping these areas well-maintained and welcoming for Balboa Park’s millions of annual visitors.
Cox Communications has been a long-time advocate of environmental stewardship, recently engaging 60 employees in a tree-planting event at Morley Field. Their continued support will enable us to strengthen our volunteer efforts and foster a diverse, multigenerational team committed to the park’s care.
With this grant, Forever Balboa Park will not only grow our volunteer program but also improve the visitor experience by ensuring the park’s landscapes remain pristine and accessible. We are grateful for Cox Communications’ partnership and their commitment to preserving Balboa Park for future generations.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our mission to make Balboa Park a thriving, sustainable destination for all.
