The Kate O. Sessions Cactus Garden In Desperate Need of Rescuing
The Kate O. Sessions Cactus garden was developed in 1935 under the direction of its namesake. After many years, the historic garden, then known as the Cactus Garden, was in desperate need of rescuing.
Because of the generous funding of Joe Fisch and Joyce Axelrod, Forever Balboa Park was able to renovate the garden to its intended glory. The project required 120 hours of labor to accomplish:
- Widened paths
- Cleaned out beds
- Added seating
