Milestones Reached, The Road Ahead
Phase 1 of the Botanical Building & Gardens revitalization has been completed, restoring the historic structure to its full architectural glory. Now, Forever Balboa Park is leading Phase 2, The Central Gardens. This next chapter includes the restoration of the exterior fountains, the reconstruction of the historic 1915 pergola, and the planting of more than nine themed gardens inspired by the lush displays that once dazzled visitors over a century ago.
With new accessible pathways, sustainable irrigation, and enhanced landscapes, this once-in-a-century project ensures the Botanical Building and Gardens will thrive for the next 100 years.

Planting in Progress
At the heart of this revitalization is a thoughtfully curated plant collection, chosen to reflect the Botanical Building’s original 1915 spirit.
